I haven't forgotten you...

Hello Blog! Hang on, let me clear those cobwebs off...

Better!

I haven't forgotten you, I did a stupid thing and decided my next blog post would be pictures of my newly arranged den of filth and clutter - er, uh - I mean...office/craft room. heh heh...heh.

My intent was good and wholesome. See using my logic, I was excited to get it done, and that excitement would speed the process, and then I could share my glee with you all! Cue the sunshine and birds chirping!

Except - its not done. And I'm not even talking major renovations, no paint, no big projects, just a couple new bookshelves and re-arranging things. And...its not done. Why you ask?

Simple, there's no paint, no big projects. I'm still staring at white walls, and old carpet, and a problem with windows/vent layouts that keep foiling my plans. So no matter what I do, I'm just not feelin' it. I've moved things 3 times, and still don't "like" it. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, amongst other things ;)

BUT...it does look better. Good enough I *might* even open the door when we have company over. Just might. Let's not get carried away here! Before now it was "that room" that you'd see them walk towards, panic, sprint over, throw your body across the doorway panting, while saying "that? that's...nothing, let's go into the KITCHEN!!" praying they didn't see anything.

See, I LOATHE clutter, it makes me insane, I can't think if there's clutter. But...I'm horridly prone to it. I'm one of those "start a project NOW" people. Who cares if there are 3 others out, I thought of it and I have to do it NOW before I lose my inspiration.

Now, normally, this technique works well. The juices are flowing, you're excited and inspired and things come about easily. Project is finished, you have an overwhelming sense of accomplishment, and off you go!

...then you have a 3 year old. :) And 'inspiration' is always interrupted. ;) And somehow I'm still trying to adapt. You'd think I'd have caught on by now, but - apparently - I'm a slow learner. To compensate for this flaw, I try to keep it contained to one room. In hopes of preventing my husband from having a heart attack. ...I'm not sure it works.

oh dear...I just thought of a new layout...I think I'm moving bookshelves again!

I used to do the same thing with my living room. re-arrange EVERYTHING!
my hubbie would run and hide when he would walk in and see me pushing stuff around the room.
now that we have wood floors everywhere, I can't do it unless I put pads or washrags under ALL the furniture before moving it! :C(
I really need to start on my craft room. I keep working in there without it being organizing and it's driving me nuts! :P

OK, I'll fess up. I do the exact same thing... except, due to toddlerus interuptus, I have postponed my manic change-the-location-of-everthing-in-sight episodes until AFTER the Littles have fallen fast asleep. These days, that means my start time is somewhere between 10:30 and 11:15 PM - which begs two questions: why don't my children sleep? AND why do I start a project in the dark of the night?

Thanks for the comment at my place. Hate to tell you, not creative writing - real deal. The good news is, there aren't any ghosts in my new/old house. yipee!

I am a consummate re-arranger. Anytime something new comes into this home I decide which room it is to go in and then rearrange everything so it and everything else fits just right. I'm not lying when I say I partake in at least one mini-rearrangement once a week. This week it has been the boys' room. Next week it will be the guest bedroom. I have decided that the rug in Isobel's room is entirely too big for her room and would be better off in the guest bedroom. Which means all sorts of rearranging and organizing. Especially since I just dug some shelves out of someone's trash that will be perfect for Iso's room once they are cleaned and painted.
Oh the beautiful misery. I can't wait to see what you do!

I don't rearrange as much as some. The mood strikes me on occasion and look out. The whole house gets done.

That is probably because my mom changed everything all the time. Dad complained and complained about it and as us kids were the "movers" we did our fair share of complaining as well. It left a bad taste in my mouth I guess.

However, I am a inspuration project starter. That I can sympathize with you on. I have projects everywhere, I wish upon wish that I had a craft room to explode in, but my house is just to small. So I have them in bags and boxes everywhere (I have 2 interruptions one 6 the other almost 1).

I've done the same thing! In fact, I have a before picture of my laundry room. Just haven't gotten to the after picture yet. Oh well.
